yes, uSD slot.
With 2 SATA port it could be the PERFECT basic board for a NAS! At least you could make a software raid to protect the data.

xbmc for cubieboard is under development. the package will include a cubieboard, a power cable, a sata cable. yes, we can ship to Singapore.

Any insights into how to best add 1 or more IR blasters to a Cubieboard, for controlling external devices (alternatively RF transceivers, but expect that to be more complex)

What are the physical dimensions of the board? Not found on specs.
You talk about NAS in the homepage, but anything usable similar to Synology DSM or such? I have been looking for it as well for the Raspberry Pi but seems abandoned.
the board size is 6x10cm. about Synology DSM, we haven’t considered it yet.
Will the CubieBoard have a SATA connector populated when it’s shipped? Or will we need to solder one on ourselves?

Is the Cubieboard-Project really completely open? Including hardware layout like the Beagle Bone/Board? Or just partly like the Raspberry?

it depends. Personally i want it to be true open but also we need to make sure the openness does not make some damage to the community and environment. i think first we will open like Rpi.

accessories are a dc to usb cable. cortex-a15 is not in the near plan.

First, great work guys. The specs looks truly great and (from my point of view)takes it up a notch from RPi. Not only that it comes with 4Gb Nand flash, but aims for the smaller mSD memorycards so less things “portrude” from the box.
I addition, I truly like that you have included an IR-eye – especially since I have many friends that I probably will have to build media centers around your plattform.
Unfortunatly, I´m not that knowledgeable on OS-level – other than installing and tweak them. So, my question is this:
Would you say that I will be able to use the Open ELEC-plattform (http://openelec.tv/)on the cubie? Or what simular XBMC-plattform would you recommend on your cubie?

I am interested in buying the cubieboard. Together with some friends we got some awesome ideas to make this thing potentially a massive selling product.
That’s why I would like to order a prototype of the cubieboard as soon as possible. I’m willing to pay a higher price than the estimated price on release. We need it early because we need some time to execute our ideas and pick the best one to develop the best cubieboard-based product on the market.
We are a group of 3 young students, who are in contact with the IT industry since childhood.
Once we figure out a good concept for the cubieboard, you can expect to get a huge amount of orders in the near future (i.e. when the cubieboard officially releases).
I would be very thankful if you could let me know the prices for a prototype of the cubieboard + shipping fees to germany.

No, the page re-formats each image switch so the whole bottom of the page, the page YOUR customers are trying to read, jumps up or down.

I think is more practical the GPIO pinouts on the upper side of the board, and if there are female connector much better.

Is there any breakout board for VGA connectivity to cubieboard. I just want to hook a 7 inch monitor with VGA connector and make a CARputer. Even a working schematic or some hint to connectivity will do in my case. I don’t want to spend on experiments.

You generally need Ubuntu for the ARM architecture. There are several image files with Ubuntu that are available, which you can easily write on a μSD card, and then get the Cubieboard boot from it.

In general, if you add an operating system on a microSD card, then the Cubieboard will simply boot that operating system. No need for JTAG or anything fancy like that. There are “images” available for Ubuntu, Debian and other operating systems. Also, you can use BerryBoot
The Cubieboard comes with Android 4.0 pre-installed, and you can use something called BerryBoot in order to install Linux on the microSD card. It is so easy you do not need to touch the keyboard to get Linux installed on the microSD card.
How can I know if I have a bad cable? If I use a single cable from a USB that outputs 5V 2A, the power LED lights up and the Ethernet lights indicates traffic, but there’s no life. No HDMI output, no controlled shutdown by holding the power button (six seconds kill works though), no ADB interface if I add the second cable later. Any ideas? What’s bad about the cables? It also behaves the same way if I only use a mini USB cable.

On the home page, images 6 and 8 in the image gallery at the top of the page are a different size than the rest. That is causing the annoying jumping up and down of the page. Simply make all of the images the same height.

I’ve purchased a Cubieboard last month and the problems starts since the beginning.
Flashed Android in internal memory stopped to boot after 3 or 4 tries.
Then I installed Ubuntu Linaro in a microSD card, i plugged a USB hard drive, i configured some applications for server and downloading purposes.
After some days, my Cubieboard hangs everyday and i had to power off and power on manually.
I had tried to change hard disk, connectors, adapters, configuration of linux system even changing cpu frequency to prevent heat problems, but the hangs were continuing.
Finally, after some days my Cubieboard has definitively died and it does not start anymore (i have tried with both USB and miniUsb connectors).
My friends have bought some units and they have similar problems too.
I have wasted my time and money buying and using this product.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.
I’m really disappointed with it.

I ask for excuses to all the Cubieboard community.

Are you planning to produce the Cubieboard with the industrial temperature ranges (-40 to +85C)?
Your front page is a little rough on the eyes. The changing product tabs change where the body is every so many seconds. It would be nice if you set that to a certain size for all of the products and information.
On a good note, the spec’s look good and I love the support for Ubuntu. Count me in.

i received my Cubieboard, but there is problem with USB ports, i can use just one of them at the time, for example if i connect mouse to one and keyboard to other, one of them will not work. i have try it in every linux distribution and android, and its always the same.
Have i received faulty board?
i think it maybe the problem of lacking power, what power adapter do you use? If you only connect mouse in either usb port of the two, will it work?
Since only one of the USB ports works at a time, you have an issue with powering up the Cubieboard with enough power.
The Cubieboard specs are for 5V/2A. It will work with 5V/500mA, as long as the peripheral devices do not draw too much power.
Some mice or keyboards have a tendency to draw too much power due to faulty workmanship.
If you have a cable like http://i2.cc-inc.com/prod/8235000/8235945_MC1.jpg then you can take power from two USB ports, thus 4V/1A which should be enough for standard peripherals. With such a cable I can power a webcam, or a SATA disk (connected through the SATA port).

I have been following AllWinner A10 from the Rhombus Tech day, then when Tom Cubies is selling Mele in AliExpress and today the proliferation of A10 base board.

Since a week or 2 I have a cubieboard. I was planning to get a good touchscreen for the cubieboard. I was looking on the internet and found the iiyama t2252mts: http://www.iiyama.com/nl_nl/producten/prolite-t2252mts-1/ .
The screen has a hdmi connector for video and needs a USB for the touchscreen.
Would this touchscreen monitor work on cubieboard / android, before I buy this one and I can’t use it.
I searched the web but I can’t find any drivers for android for this monitor so I don’t known if it’s supported by android.
