I have this board, I've tried a few harddrives on it, mainly including a hitatchi 3tb and a samsung 2tb. Tried several operating system, mainly two that worked netbsd and ubuntu. I initially thought the sata controller was buggy because the system couldn't stay online for more than a couple hours in either system and would die during large harddrive loads such as taring usr or using bittorrent. Also the hitatchi was reading at 107 Fahrenheit. I moved the samsung drive to a direct connect to the cubietruck, and now no more crashing. I'm not sure exactly what kind of 12v power supply is needed, I tried quite a few. My last attempt was modifying (for 12v connector ) and using FSP Net 36 Universal Netbook Power Adapter 12V 36W for ASUS Eee PC . For the moment I've given up, just don't understand why stable power is not possible with this board.

Hi,

what power supply should be used when I use the adapter board with the cubietruck and 3.5" SATA HDD. At the moment I connected the 12V out to the cubietruck and the furthermore using USB to 1.7 mm DC jack cable to power the cubietruck.

As far as I read this should be possible but the information about the Ampere varies (0.5A - 4A). What would be enough so that hdd and works.

Thanks for any help.
